After the railroad first reached Las Vegas, New Mexico in 1879, merchants rich from the Santa Fe Trail trade pooled $1,000 each to build the Plaza Hotel. Because of its hospitality and beauty, the Plaza Hotel today is just as ready to serve you a good meal or let you sleep in a comfortable bed as it was in 1882.

In 1882, the Hotel had 54 rooms. Ten rooms overlooking the Plaza Park were originally built with private baths. Rear rooms were smaller and shared a bath down the hall on each floor. In 1982, during the renovation, the number of rooms was reduced to 37 to add private baths and generous dressing rooms.
All rooms offer historic décor,
full cable with HBO, wireless internet, free coffee & tea. Occasionally,
some rooms include a visit by Byron T. Mills, our resident ghost, at no
extra cost.
