When originally constructed in 1882, the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, New Mexico had fifty-four rooms. Ten rooms overlooked the Plaza Park and had their own private baths. These were planned to be for the crême de la crême who were expected to arrive by railroad, which had just reached Las Vegas that same year. The other forty-four were smaller, shared one bath down the hall on each floor, and were expected to serve the less regal clientele that had been the norm in the area.

One hundred years later, the Plaza Hotel was renovated. The forty-four smaller rooms became twenty-two rooms, each with its own private bath and a generous dressing room. The baths down the hall became Premiere rooms, preferred by many because of their unusual octagonal shape. An additional four took the place of the original restaurant kitchen on the 1st Floor. All the room renovations remained true to the original Victorian spirit of the Hotel, and all thirty-eight rooms feature 19th Century décor and furnishings, with 21st Century amenities.

Premium Rooms include the other six large rooms overlooking the Plaza Park and four more with King-size beds, including the two octagonal ones with windows on the atrium.
